St. Monica School Service Commitment
The volunteer commitment by so many
St. Monica School families has been critical to the success of
our school for many years. Service to others is a Christian value
that the St. Monica School community embraces and it is in
keeping with this spirit that we are introducing more structure
to our volunteer program this year. Additionally, this program , along with
several others, helps keep our costs down and tuition more affordable. The following outlines
the requirements of the St. Monica School Service Commitment
Program:
- Each family will be required
to commit to a minimum of 40 volunteer hours annually (June 1st - May
31st) with the following exceptions: 20
hours for single parent families as defined on the
registration contract and 20 hours for families with only
an 8th Grade student in the school.
- Volunteer hours that qualify
directly benefit the school or St. Monica School - age activities. Some qualifying activities include: Hot Lunch,
Room Parents (and its activities), CYO coaching, School
Fundraising Activities, Library Aides, Reading Friends,
Great Books, Attendance at School Commission and/or Parents'
Club Meetings (and its committees),
Development Committee and/or Activities, Scouting Leadership (Parish sponsored troops only), etc.
(This is only a sample of
qualifying activities.)
- A minimum of 10 hours of
service commitment time must be in a school fundraising and/or
development capacity (i.e. Gift Wrap, Auction, Christmas Tree Sale,
Phone-A-Thon, Scrip).
- Each family will be
responsible for recording their volunteer hours. Every effort
should be made to record regularly. (Families can email hours via the
school website in
addition to recording them in the main office.)
- The volunteer coordinator will
tabulate the hours on a quarterly basis. Families that have not
shown an effort to fulfill this commitment will be contacted.
- Those families unable to meet
all or a portion of this requirement may be excused by making
arrangements with the principal.
- Commitment hours may not be transferred
from one family to another.
- Commitment hours will not be carried over
from year to year.
- Families not wishing to participate in the
service commitment program will be subject to the Out of
Parish/Non-Participating Parishioner tuition rate.
