St.
Monica Scrip Overview
What is St. Monica Scrip and How Does it Work?
St. Monica Scrip is gift certificates and gift cards to area stores, restaurants, and businesses. The gift certificates are used like cash. The gift cards are used just like a debit card.
When you purchase St. Monica Scrip, you raise money for St. Monica at no additional cost to yourself. Here’s how it works. St. Monica is able to purchase the certificates and gift cards at a discount. We sell them to you at face value. You pay the same price as if you had bought the certificates of gift cards are your local store. Our discount, ranges from 2% - 15%, which is our profit. For the 2006-2007 school year, we raised over $30,000 in profit.
Here’s an example. We are able to buy QFC gift cards at a 5% discount. That means St. Monica pays $95 for a $100 gift card. We sell that QFC card to you for $100. You use that card to make $100 of purchases at QFC, and St. Monica has just made $5 in profit.
HOW DOES THE ALBERTSON’S COMMUNITY PARTNER CARD WORK?
Albertson’s has a special program that requires no cash up front. This program applies to both grocery purchases and the pharmacy. We provide a community partner card to you. When your prescriptions or groceries are being scanned, present this card to the clerk. Your sales receipt will show: Community Partner indicating that St. Monica will receive a 2% rebate on your purchase. We receive a quarterly check from Albertson’s.
AM I REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SCRIP PROGRAM?
As part of your tuition contract, anyone receiving “Participating Parishioner” tuition rates (i.e. tuition is subsidized by the parish) is required to participate in the Scrip Program. You may fulfill this requirement by either purchasing scrip or using an Albertson’s Community Partner Card or by doing both.
There is no required participation level. However, we are suggesting that each family set a voluntary goal of $100 profit for the period running July 1 thru June 30. If you feel that your family is unable to participate in the Scrip Program, you may discuss your situation with the Principal and have your participation requirement waived.
HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH PROFIT MY FAMILY HAS GENERATED?
Periodically during the year, each family will receive a statement in the mail showing their Scrip profit to date. A family may also contact the Scrip Chairperson at any time to find out their current profits. For those families purchasing Scrip, your profit can be calculated automatically based on your purchases.
HOW DO I PURCHASE SCRIP?
There are four (4) ways to purchase scrip:
Scrip will be on sale Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8:15 – 9:15 AM in the large conference room near the school office.
You may prepare an order form and check and place them in the “SCRIP” file folder in the school office at any time.
Scrip will be on sale the second Sunday of every month in the Family Center after all morning masses.
(Scrip sale days are subject to change depending on events or holidays, which affect the school or church calendar.)
If you order scrip, which is currently not in stock, you may pick-up your order on Friday afternoon of the following week.
Scrip will be delivered only to the person placing the order. If you would like your children or another designated person (nanny, carpooler, neighbor, etc..) to be able to pick-up your scrip order, a “Hold Harmless” form will need to be completed. These are available in the “SCRIP” file folder in the school office or on the school website.
