Principal’s Report Pam Dellino
Mrs. Dellino came from the Walk-a-thon with the Mariner Moose and our Sparrow, Luke to bring us up to date on a few things. She thanked Kelly Panelli for one of the best years of Parent Club leadership. Kelly is organized, has great ideas and has made it a very smooth and productive year. Thank you, Kelly!
Teacher Appreciation Week – Pam thanked everyone for their contributions to this great week honoring the teachers. The Luncheon and the children’s cards were especially appreciated.
Accreditation Update – Please fill out the accreditation survey that was emailed out to all the parents. It is important for our accreditation as well as our school – your ideas and suggestions are valued.
School Supplies – There is a link on the school website to “Easy Supplies”. Please remember it when you are purchasing school supplies for your students! If you click on the link and order supplies through their website our school gets a percentage of every purchase.
Good Search.com – Instead of “googling” use www.GoodSearch.com for your internet searches. For every search done though GoodSearch, our school gets .01! This free money will really add up if we all use it. Directions and a link are on the school website.

Treasurer’s Report Nina Dennis
The budget was discussed and approved for the 2008-2009 school year. We added $100 for a new rolling rack for Uniform Exchange and $200 to increase the Religious Education budget. Nina reported that with $28,000 made in fundraising, $5,000 given in teacher wish-list gifts, and $19,000 in the fundraising buyout, it is estimated that $52,000 will be contributed to the school! Nina will get year end totals for each classroom so we will know how much money each grade has going into the new school year. Thank you Nina for all your hard work on the budget this year!
President’s Report Kelly Panelli
Volunteer of the Year Award – We will recognize the St. Monica’s School Volunteer of the Year at our Spring Concert , please stay tuned…
Field Day – Please contact Mr. Plouf if you will like to help on this fun day! We need about 40 volunteers to keep it going! Thank you!
Summer Reading Book Swap – Watch the Family Packet for information on a new, fun thing for summer. Students can bring in gently used favorite books (that they are done with) and Melissa DeBruyne and volunteers will categorize them and then the students will have a chance to come down and select a few books to take home to read for the summer! Please contact Melissa if you would like to help. We need at least 3-4 volunteers to help.
Drop books off the week of May 19-23. Swap will take place week of May 26th during class library time.
Hot Lunch Update – Kelly will put up a survey for parents to decide on Hot Lunch for next year. The choices are to continue with Chartwells or try a new group called “The Lunch Ladies”. The Lunch Ladies currently serve the French American School as well as Sacred Heart and Assumption St. Bridget and many other local schools. Here is a quick comparison:
Cost Ordering Food Choices Volunteers Milk
Chartwells 3.50 order day of with ticket Two 2 per day included
Lunch Ladies 3.75+ online, month in advance Three zero $20/year (appx)
Pros: Chartwells - cheaper, milk included, can decide at the last minute
Lunch Ladies – better food, more choices, can add a cookie or snack for $1,00, no volunteers to depend on
Cons: Chartwells – food not so great, hot lunch sales down, volunteer issue
Lunch Ladies – order online in advance – have to plan ahead, little higher cost
Please watch for the hot lunch survey and make a choice! Thank you!
Parent Club Meeting – Don’t miss the volunteer appreciation event in the Family Center May 29th from 1:30 to 3pm. Thank you for a great year!!
