Grades in Physical Education will be based on participation as defined by the rubric below. The categories are:

  1. Protocol: This is basically procedure, including but not limited to the following….getting to the gym on time, changing into appropriate clothes and sitting in squad lines in a timely manner.
  2. Effort and Participation: This has to do with student’s effort and level of participation during warm-up, conditioning, practice and activity parts of the class.
  3. Judgment and Safety: Does the student think before they act. Behavior should promote personal and peer safety. Does the student sit quietly and pay attention at the appropriate times. Focus is paying attention to directions, allowing student and peers opportunity to learn and participate safely.
  4. Attitude and Sportsmanship: Includes general disposition and relationship with peers and instructor
  5. Homework: Primarily deals with PE make-ups for missed classes and for 6-8th grade the monthly calendar assignment.
