MIDDLE
SCHOOL MATH

Middle School Math Grades 6, 7, and
8
St. Monica Parish School is a fantastic environment for math
students in the middle school. They have the opportunity to focus intensely on
their math skills. Our middle school students approach mathematics with a strong
“number sense”. This intact number sense allows them to apply concepts and
logically problem solve with enthusiasm!
Each
class is divided into two groups. The smaller group arrangement insures
student centered learning. On a daily basis all students are connected to the
learning process! Their work is continually evaluated, they are able to ask
questions, test their mathematical concepts, and continue to improve their
skills. Homework checks and skills maintenance tests are given throughout the
year. The ITBS is also given to middle school students.
6th
graders study all the required computational and problem skills in basic
arithmetic and geometry.
Students in 7th grade are enrolled in a more intense pre-algebra
class.
Students in 8th grade will take a course in algebra I. (Gender
Grouped)
