DRESS CODE
The uniform is prescribed by action of the
School Commission and approved by parents. Uniforms are to be strictly
observed as outlined in the uniform guidelines in the handbook.
- If some unforeseen emergency prevents
wearing the uniform for a day, a written note from the parent to the principal
is required. This is valid for one day only.
- All students must have the uniform
sweatshirt with them at school every day, except on free dress days.
- Shirttails must be tucked in at all
times.
- Colored shirts or T-shirts with designs
that can be seen through the shirt or blouse are not to be worn.
- Uniform sweatshirts MUST be worn to
Mass on days when there is a school Mass, and shirttails are not to be
visible.
- Hair is to be neatly groomed.
Extreme styles, including inappropriate colors are not acceptable.
Coming to school with extreme hairstyles will not be allowed and students will
be sent home. It is important that students and their families use good
judgment.
- Hat and caps are not to be worn in
Church or inside the school building.
- The school does not encourage the use
of make-up by students. Those who choose to wear it must do so in a
manner, which is not distracting.
- Jewelry should not interfere with
traditional school uniform. For safety reasons long dangling or loop
earrings are not encouraged. Simple and appropriate jewelry is allowed
but not encouraged.
- On free dress days, students should
appear in appropriate, neat clothing. Bicycle pants, shorts that are too
short, torn, holey, or tattered jeans or pants, clothes that are skintight or
are excessive in size are never acceptable garb to wear to school. Low
riding pants are unacceptable. Bare midriffs are unacceptable.
- Shorts: long, baggy, cargo style are
not allowed. Tailored, walking shorts are permitted. It is
important that students and their families use good judgement.
- Socks: the "sock less" look is not
allowed. Socks need to be clearly visible.
- The principal
has the final say in all dress code matters.
