Some basics for 8th Grade

Eighth grade is a safe place. Verbal and nonverbal communication that implies lack of respect will not be tolerated.

I care about you as a person. My job is to help you advance academically, spiritually, and socially.

I will see that you succeed. To that end are some basics that will help you be successful:

  1. This year’s school-wide virtue is honesty.
  2. You need to ask permission to use the school’s and your personal technology during school hours. Some examples of technology include phones, cameras, recorders, I-pods, etc.)
  3. Show up to school on time.
  4. Below is how I want you to head your paper in the upper-left corner

  10. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
  11. Follow the class-generated expectations at all times.
  12. The eastside of Lake Washington has an unusual microclimate that causes the printers to fail. If you are victimized by this phenomenon, please email in your work to pbriardy@stmonicasea.org.
  13. Millabouter People Alert: During lunch, you are to be on the playground, in the library, or working with a teacher. You are not to be hanging around the lockers, restrooms, etc. or in a classroom unsupervised.
  14. Late work: Assignments are docked 20% for being late. The increase in “dockage” after the first day late is at the discretion of the teacher.
  15. Community service: Ten hours per trimester
