LITERATURE
Each
one of us may read a variety of different materials throughout the day for many
different reasons. But whatever our reasons may be, we all read to comprehend.
Both 7th
and 8th
grade classes will be focusing on improving their comprehension skills.
We
will be reading a variety of novels throughout the school year that complement
the anthology.
The
curriculum is going to be integrated into other subject areas such as history,
religion, the arts, writing, technology, and science.
Over
the course of the school year we will be developing an understanding of the
elements of literature. In addition, we will be analyzing the appeal and
importance of literature.
Book
reports will be a required component in this literature class. The 7th
and 8th
grade classes will each complete 5 reports this year. Each book report involves
a
presentation
and
writing element.
When
students understand the greatness of books it gives them the opportunity to
appreciate and enjoy a wide range of written works.
7th
grade students will be given the opportunity to explore multiple examples of
literature. Such as:
* Short stories
