Fourth Grade News

Dear Families,

I wanted to write and thank you all for being such wonderful and supportive parents.  I thank you for sharing your children with me this year.  Having them has been a joy and I was happy to see every one each day.

This year has been a year of growth academically, physically, and socially.  All the students have worked extremely hard and have done a marvelous job in their academics! Over the summer we tend to loose some of the knowledge we worked so hard on, especially math facts, reading concepts, and writing.  I am recommending a summer workbook that will help your child retain knowledge and skills they have acquired this year. The book is Summer Bridge Activities: Bridging Grades 3 to 4 published by Rainbow Bridge publishing, Carson- Dellosa. It can be found at Lakeshore Learning for $15.95. Keeping up with math, reading, and writing skills for at least 10-15 minutes a day will keep their mind thinking academically until school starts again in September.  Also, remember that it is important for you to read to your child or for them to read to you at least 20 minutes each day.

Again, I want to mention how excited I am to be teaching fourth grade next year with your children.  We will get to do a lot of fun things together again!  Please look for an email later this summer which will talk about the first week of school. Have a terrific summer vacation with family and friends.  Remember to relax and have fun!  See you in September in fourth grade!

Fondly,

Mrs. Jennifer Arthur
