BOOK REPORTS

Starting in the month of October and ever month afterwards, I am going to require each child to do a book report on one of the books they have read for that month.  They will not be the traditional book reports you remember doing in school.  These will be a piece of paper that I hand them and need to filled out according to their book.  The amount of writing will depend on the book report handout. Book reports will be due the last school day of that month.  On top of the paper I will write the due date so you know!

Since every child reads at their own independent reading level and style of book, the book guidelines are somewhat difficult.  I am asking the book they read be a minimum o 50 pages; this means it has to be a chapter book.  This book can be the book they are reading during their 20 minutes at home reading.  They are encouraged to read it to you if they typically do not read a chapter book.  I recommend this book be an AR book so they are able to take the test on it as well.

I will factor in the book reports to the overall reading grade so please make sure your child is thorough in their book report.  I know it is tempting to aide in your child's writing and correct their grammatical errors, however, I am asking you to make sure their work is authentic! If you have any questions about the book report please call or email m at my desk, jarthur@stmonicasea.org

We will have our first book report in September.
I will send information home the first week of school!
