Homework policy
Your child will be bringing home a binder with homework on Monday (or the first day of every week) and required to bring it back to school on Friday.
~Why we assign homework~
We believe homework is important because it is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experience in school. We give homework because it is useful in reinforcing what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility, and helps students develop positive study habits.
~When homework will be assigned~
Homework will be assigned the first of every week. The homework is not designed to complete all in one night. Your first grades homework should not take more than 15- 20 minutes a night (not including special projects or studying).
~Students homework responsibilities~
We expect the first graders to do their best on their homework. We expect homework be neat, not sloppy. We expect the first graders to do the work on their own and only ask for help after they have given it their best effort. Finally, we expect that all assignments be turned in on time!
~Parent’s homework responsibilities~
Parents are the key to making homework a positive experience for their first graders. Therefore, we ask that parents make homework a priority, provide necessary supplies and a quiet homework environment, set a daily homework time, provide praise and support. Do not let your children avoid homework.
**If there is a legitimate reason why your first grader is not able to finish homework, please let us know.
Please read and discuss this homework policy with your child. Then sign and return the bottom portion of this letter to school.
